What we believe and teach in Torrey Kids


In Torrey Kids, children are our passion and our reason for ministry. We believe that great values and characteristics can be embraced by children and we teach this through relationships and the Word of God. We believe that God has revealed himself through history and is working within history to fulfill his purpose for all creation. The Bible tells the story of God's work in the world, how He made humankind in his own image, what went wrong with humanity, and how, through Jesus Christ, God set out to restore people and all creation to Himself. Torrey Kids tells God's story and invites kids to enter into it; following the way of Jesus and joining the work that God is doing in the world.

We also believe that God has called parents to be the major contributors in their child's spiritual growth, so it's our desire to partner with parents in teaching kids the way of Jesus and helping them put down deep roots in the Word of God. We encourage parents to make weekly worship a family priority, modeling for their child the importance of putting God first in their lives.

"Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your child. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates." (Deuteronomy 6:4-9)

And lastly, we believe that Sundays should be fun! Each week we pray and plan so that kids can learn and get excited about God and want to get to know Him better. When their lives are changed, we believe that they can make a huge difference in their world.
